Gonzalo Bacigalupe, EdD, MPH, is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Family Therapy Program in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Massachusetts. He is President of the American Family Therapy Academy and has a couple and family therapy private practice in Newton, Massachusetts. Dr. Bacigalupe is co-principal investigator in a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Pilot research project and faculty in the in the Center for Health Equity Intervention Research (CHEIR), a joint effort by the UMass Medical School and UMass Boston. He is also a principal investigator in a study of online patient communities.
Dr. Bacigalupe has authored many clinical and research articles and presented nationally and internationally focusing on the impact of family health (celiac disease, chronic pain, and medication strategies and literacy), e-health, and information and communication technologies.
Dr. Bacigalupe is fellow of the American Psychological Association and is member of several journal editorial boards in the field of counseling psychology, family therapy, and public health. He is a strategic advisor of RegroupTherapy, a secure-based platform that provides a simple and secure space for therapists and clients to connect online. Dr. Bacigalupe was Ikerbasque Research Professor in the Basque Country and was Senior Fulbright Research Fellow at the Autonomic University of Barcelona. He has served in several board and executive committees including the Society for Participatory Medicine, the Society of Family Psychology, and the International Health Division of APHA, among others.
